A solid 3。5 stars。 I like the premise of the novel of having a group of friends come together after 12 years where their past still haunts them。 However， some of the characters were extremely unlikable。 The twist at the end was interesting。 I feel like there was almost too much suspense in this book， and it felt like it could have been a lot shorter。

This book was very good！ I debated giving it a 4 but felt like the plot line was very similiar to other murder mystery， “Agatha Christy-esque” books。 I really did enjoy the twists and turns， and the twists kept coming until the very end！ Although I did figure out the mystery of Emily’s death early on， there were several plot twists that kept me guessing。

2。5 rounded up。First off， a huge thank you to NetGalley for the ARC。 I couldn’t wait to start the newest thriller from Darby Kane but as I made my way through was less than excited。 I have been reading this genre for many years and have become more critical of the twists。 Found this book to be lacking in pace and left wanting when finished。 I’d recommend The Replacement Wife over The Engagement Party。

Wow that was so bad。 I mean reading is subjective， but damn I didn’t like that book at all。 The writing was basic， the dialogue was super YA vibes， and the plot was ridiculous。 The ending was just a lot of “no this is actually what happened” over and over to the point where you don’t actually even care who the killer is or why they killed。 Dumb。 I wasn’t invested in the characters at all because there was such minor backstory on any of them。 It was all plot and very little else。 Not for me。
